Where in the World is Trisha?

I’ve been missing, and I’ll tell you where I’ve been.

I got lost in 1810 New Orleans, in the minds of three very different girls and their worlds of sugar plantations, Haitian vodou, and pirating from Grand Terre.

Yes. I finished a 1st draft last night, the first in over a year for me. It feels wonderful, and I will cherish the way I love the story right now, and try to recall those feelings when I pull it out for revisions in a few weeks.

The MS, for those who are curious, is called Believe. It’s a Historical YA sitting right at 84k.

I don’t want to say too much right now, as things will change and I’m still feeling a little bit possessive of my newest book baby. Below I shared photos that inspired the three main characters.

Enjoy, and I hope to return to a regular blogging schedule on Monday!

Serafine is a first generation Creole, the only daughter of a sugar plantation owner.

Violine, a mulatto immigrant from Haiti, vodou mambo in training.

Last but never least, Charlotte. The runaway daughter of the American governor of LA who lops off her hair and joins Jean Lafitte's pirates on Grand Terre.

I hope you all get to meet them one day.

  5. Lovely and congrats! I get chills thinking about it, Trisha.

    Hearts.

    • I hope it lives up to your chills. I’m sorry I’ve been sucking at being a friend lately. MS head. Talk soon!

  6. This is so cool. Good on you for finishing. The pics are very descriptive of the different personalities. Of course I like the middle one best. 🙂

    • Thanks Beth, I am glad you think it sounds cool. I can’t believe I finished already 🙂

I’m not surprised you like the middle one best. Me? The third girl just stole my soul.
