Bio

I’m an author of young adult fiction from Kansas City, MO. I’m currently writing/revising/cursing what might one day be my first published novel.

Raised by a family of ex-farmers and/or almost rock stars from Southeastern Iowa, I earned a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film from Texas Christian University (yes, the Horned Frogs, that’s right) in 2001. At TCU I discovered a love for writing.

I moved home to Kansas City after graduation, took a job – any job – and began to search for a way to release the voices in my head. I wrote a thriller and a couple of ghost stories, getting my feet wet and learning with each attempt.

In December of 2009 an idea for a dystopian young adult novel blew into my mind and snagged. I knew from that moment that my heart lay with telling stories about and for young adults, and for anyone who loves to read and recapture those fleeting “first” moments.

My spare time is spent watching television and movies, spending time with my large, loud, loving family, reading any book that falls into my hands, and being dragged into the fresh air by my dogs Yoda and Jilly.

Like everyone, I’ve had ups and downs but am now in the best place of my life. I’m writing. I’m happy.
